Noida Building Fire: 2 Dead, 50 Rescued; Landlord Arrested

Two people were killed and around 50 others were rescued after a fire broke out in a multi-storeyed building in Noida's Mamura village on Wednesday (July 15, 2026). Police have arrested the landlord in connection with the incident.

The fire occurred in a ground-plus-four building in Sector 66, where multiple families lived as tenants. According to Joint Commissioner of Police Rajiv Mishra, the blaze is believed to have been ignited by an electric two-wheeler being charged inside the building. The fire then spread to nearby petrol-powered two-wheelers parked in the premises.

Fire tenders, including a hydraulic platform, were rushed to the spot immediately after the blaze was reported, and most residents were safely evacuated. Mishra stated that two individuals with pre-existing health issues fell ill after inhaling smoke and were taken to the district hospital by ambulance, where they later died.

The landlord has been arrested, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and any lapses in safety protocols. Authorities have urged residents to follow fire safety guidelines, particularly regarding the charging of electric vehicles in confined spaces.
