NEET UG Re-Exam Security: 2 Lakh Personnel, Biometric Checks, GPS Tracking

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced comprehensive security arrangements for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. Over 2 lakh personnel have been mobilised to ensure a smooth and leak-free process for more than 22.79 lakh candidates appearing across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

The pen-and-paper test will be held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. The NTA has deployed a multi-layered security framework including CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, and GPS-enabled transportation of examination materials with police escorts.

Key personnel include 674 city coordinators, 6,669 observers, and centre superintendents and invigilators at every test centre. District administrations and police forces are also involved. All examination centres will have high-sensitivity metal detectors and mandatory frisking. Centralised control rooms will monitor CCTV feeds in real time.

The NTA is also monitoring social media for misinformation and has filed complaints with cybercrime authorities, including the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Candidates unable to complete biometric verification due to technical issues or poor fingerprint quality will not be denied entry. They must submit a written undertaking and undergo manual identity verification with valid documents.

Facilities at centres include reliable power backup, adequate lighting and fans, wall clocks, drinking water, sanitation, and medical support. Candidates may carry a transparent water bottle. Diabetic candidates can carry sugar tablets and fruits like bananas, apples, and oranges. Additional biometric machines and trained personnel will speed up verification.

Reporting time is between 11 am and 1:30 pm. Entry gates close at 1:30 pm sharp; no late entry will be allowed. Candidates are advised to report early to avoid inconvenience.
