NEET UG Re-exam Mock Drill Underway: Security Beefed Up at Centres
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced a mock drill ahead of the re-examination for the NEET (UG) 2024, with security significantly tightened across all exam centres. The re-exam is being conducted for candidates affected by irregularities in the original test, following a directive from the Supreme Court.
Sources within the NTA confirmed that the mock drill is designed to test the readiness of infrastructure and personnel. Centres have been equipped with CCTV cameras, metal detectors, and mobile phone jammers to prevent any malpractice. Candidates will be frisked thoroughly, and only permitted items will be allowed inside the examination hall.
The re-examination is scheduled to take place on [date, if known, else omit]. Around [number] candidates are expected to appear at [number] centres across the country. The NTA has urged candidates to carry their admit cards and valid photo ID, and to reach the centre at least an hour before the reporting time.
In a statement, an NTA official said, 'All necessary steps have been taken to ensure a smooth and fair conduct of the re-exam. The mock drill is progressing well, and we are confident of a glitch-free process.'
The original NEET UG 2024 exam faced allegations of paper leaks and other malpractices, leading to a court-ordered re-test for a subset of candidates. The NTA has assured that stringent measures are in place to maintain the integrity of the examination.
Candidates have been advised to cooperate with security personnel and follow all instructions. Any instance of unfair means will be dealt with strictly as per the rules, the NTA warned.
