NEET Re-exam Error: Nagpur Student Allotted Abu Dhabi Centre, NTA Admits Glitch

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has admitted to a technical glitch after allotting a test centre in Abu Dhabi to a Nagpur-based student for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for Sunday, June 21.

Abdullah, a student from Nagpur, was assigned a centre in Abu Dhabi despite his preference for a local centre in Maharashtra. The error caused distress to his family, who said they could not arrange passports or visas at short notice.

Following complaints, the NTA acknowledged the lapse and assured that a revised admit card would be issued, designating Nagpur as his test centre. The agency termed the mistake a 'technical glitch'.

The NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally held on May 3, was cancelled on May 12 amid allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the matter.

In a related development, the Indian government banned the Telegram messaging app from June 19 to June 22 at the NTA's request, aiming to curb fraudulent activities by cheating rackets during the re-examination.

A nationwide mock drill was conducted on Saturday, June 20, to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the re-exam.
