Kerala partners with Germany's Deutsche Bahn to train skilled workers for railway jobs
The Kerala Academy of Skills Excellence (KASE) has exchanged a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Deutsche Bahn, Germany's national railway company, to establish a partnership aimed at training skilled technical professionals from Kerala for employment in Germany's railway and allied technical sectors.
The collaboration seeks to create world-class training standards and structured migration pathways for workers. Speaking on the occasion, Forest and Skill Development Minister Shibu Baby John said the government is committed to building a premier skilling ecosystem aligned with global industry demands. He added that the goal is to transform Kerala into the skill capital of India, serving not only the youth of the state but also aspiring talent from across the country.
As part of the initiative, specialised training centres and infrastructure will be set up to run internationally compliant pilot programmes. Certified trainers will be deployed to deliver German language instruction to boost proficiency among participants.
The partnership is expected to open new opportunities for Kerala's skilled workforce in Germany, which faces a shortage of technical professionals in its railway sector. No timeline for the start of training programmes has been announced yet.
