Jharkhand Government Appoints 1,042 Teachers, CM Soren Emphasises Quality Education

Ranchi, June 29: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday handed over appointment letters to 1,042 newly recruited teachers for government schools at a ceremony held at the Indoor Stadium Khelgaon in Ranchi.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Soren stated that the newly appointed teachers would play a crucial role in shaping the state's educational landscape and the future of its children. 'From today, you are an integral part of the state government. Your responsibility is to ensure Jharkhand rises among the leading states in education. The government has entrusted you not just with a job, but with the duty of shaping the future of the next generation,' he said.

The Chief Minister emphasised that teachers are vital for nation-building and societal development. He noted that the future of the state's children depends on the teachers' knowledge, conduct, and work style. Mr. Soren also pointed out that given Jharkhand's challenging geographical and social conditions, these teachers have the responsibility of delivering quality education in remote rural areas.

Mr. Soren stressed that there should be no reports of mistreatment or untoward incidents involving children in schools. He warned that any form of brutal or inhumane behaviour towards children would invite strict legal action. He urged teachers to adopt a sensitive and skillful approach in their interactions with children, adding that in today's world, a person's capability, competence, and actions matter more than caste or religion.

The Chief Minister noted that these appointments mark a significant step in strengthening the administrative system. 'Jharkhand is a state rich in potential and talent. Although it has consistently provided ample resources to the nation, it has received little in return. This has delayed quality education here,' he said. He added that the new teachers, who will go to remote and inaccessible areas, are entrusted with overcoming these challenges.

Mr. Soren highlighted that for long, the state was seen merely as a source of mineral wealth, but the government is now prioritising education, employment, and youth welfare. He mentioned the 'Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Vidyalaya' (Schools of Excellence) launched in 2021, which offers education at par with private schools and has received over 40,000 applications for 9,000–10,000 seats. The government continues to work on improving academic quality in state schools.
