Andhra official alleges 48,442 OMR sheets replaced in Group-I exam
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman A. Ravi Naidu has alleged that 48,442 OMR answer sheets were replaced during the Group-I recruitment examinations conducted under the previous government. He also accused the Opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of raising the DSC-2025 recruitment issue to divert public attention from the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
Speaking to media on Thursday (August 13, 2026), Naidu said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Group-I examination matter is expected to submit its report soon. He claimed that the YSRCP leaders are “hurriedly hurling charges” on the DSC-2025 recruitment process to deflect attention from the findings.
According to Naidu, the SIT probe has revealed that answer sheets of the Group-I examinations were digitally tampered with to award higher marks to ineligible candidates. He further alleged that the then APPSC chairman was sidelined, CCTV cameras were removed, and private security was engaged in place of government staff during the process. The replacement of 48,442 OMR sheets was among the irregularities cited by him.
The Group-I examination process has been under scrutiny since allegations of malpractice first surfaced. The YSRCP, which was in power at the time, has denied any wrongdoing. The current government constituted the SIT to investigate the matter thoroughly.
In response to Naidu’s statements, YSRCP leaders have dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, saying the ruling party is attempting to cover up failures in the DSC-2025 recruitment. They have demanded an independent inquiry into both matters.
The DSC-2025 recruitment, which pertains to teacher appointments, has seen protests and legal challenges. Several candidates have alleged irregularities in the selection process. The state government has said it is committed to a transparent and fair recruitment drive.
Meanwhile, the SIT’s report on the Group-I examination is awaited. Legal experts say the findings could have significant implications for the accused and for the credibility of the state’s recruitment processes.
Citizens and aspirants are closely watching the developments, as the outcome may affect thousands of candidates who appeared for the examinations. The authorities have urged the public to await the SIT report rather than rely on unverified claims.
