Iran Warns of Broader Offensive if US Attacks Continue for Two More Days
Iran warned on Friday that it could escalate its response to US military strikes beyond retaliation, moving to a broader offensive if the American campaign continues for another two to three days. The warning, posted on X by senior military adviser Mohsen Rezaee, represents one of Tehran's strongest threats since the conflict began.
Rezaee, a top official in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that if US attacks persist, Iran would move from a phase of deterrence and retaliation to one of "offense and complete destruction." He added that no political border would provide safety from Iran's forces and that diplomacy and negotiations were no longer an option.
The remarks come after the collapse of a 14-point memorandum of understanding that had briefly framed talks between the US and Iran. Both countries have continued trading strikes on each other's military assets across the region, with Washington stating its goal is to degrade Iran's military capability and Tehran vowing further retaliation.
The US launched a seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran on Friday. US Central Command announced on X that the strikes, ordered by the commander-in-chief, were designed to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities. Iranian state media reported three explosions in Sirik, a city in Hormozgan province, around the same time.
Rezaee's warning signals a potential shift from the current tit-for-tat exchanges to a more aggressive posture, raising concerns about a wider conflict in the region.
