Interpol issues Red Corner Notice against alleged Sambhal violence mastermind Shariq Satha
New Delhi: The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a Red Corner Notice against Shariq Satha, who is alleged to be the mastermind of the violence that rocked Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh in November 2024. The notice, issued on the request of Indian law enforcement agencies, urges police forces worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest Satha pending his extradition to India.
The development marks a significant step in the investigation into the clashes that left four people dead and dozens injured. The violence erupted on November 24, 2024, when a mob attacked a court-appointed survey team outside the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal.
