Hyderabad police deploy drones, CCTV for Milad-un-Nabi procession security
Hyderabad police have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for the Milad-un-Nabi procession scheduled to be held on August 26. Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar reviewed the preparations during a coordination meeting with representatives of the Markaz-e-Milad Juloos Committee at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Banjara Hills on Saturday.
Milad-un-Nabi, which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, is observed by Muslims across the world. In Hyderabad, the annual procession draws thousands of participants and passes through several neighbourhoods. The Commissioner urged organisers to ensure the procession is conducted peacefully and concludes within the stipulated timeframe.
He specified that the procession should begin at the scheduled time and emphasised that DJs and sound systems causing excessive noise pollution would not be permitted, in line with Supreme Court and government regulations. Strict action would be taken against minors driving vehicles, triple-riding on motorcycles, and rash driving using modified silencers, he warned. No bike rallies would be allowed before the scheduled date.
With the monsoon continuing, Mr. Sajjanar advised organisers to take precautions while putting up electrical decorations and to ensure that flags do not come into contact with power lines. Volunteers at food distribution points were also asked to coordinate with the police to prevent traffic congestion.
In a separate video conference with police officials, the Commissioner directed field-level personnel to work in coordination to ensure the celebrations pass off peacefully. Security measures are being strengthened in sensitive areas, and drones and CCTV cameras will maintain surveillance over the procession throughout its route.
Police will also keep a close watch on provocative or hateful content posted on social media, as well as known troublemakers. Vehicles participating in the procession are being issued stickers in advance, and a dedicated coordination WhatsApp group and helpline have been set up for emergency communication.
Senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, South Range) Tafseer Iqbal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis, Deputy Commissioners of Police (Traffic-3) Rahul Hegde, (Charminar) Khare Kiran Prabhakar, (Rajendranagar) Srinivas, (Shamshabad) Rajesh and (Golconda) Raghavender Reddy, attended the meeting along with the Markaz-e-Milad Juloos Committee representatives.
