Harry Kane Surpasses Gary Lineker as England's All-Time World Cup Goal Scorer

Harry Kane has surpassed Gary Lineker as England's all-time leading World Cup goal-scorer, netting his 11th tournament goal in a 2-0 win over Panama in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Kane's goal came via a powerful header from a Jude Bellingham cross, moving him one ahead of Lineker, who scored 10 goals across the 1986 and 1990 World Cups. Lineker won the Golden Boot in 1986 with six goals and added four in 1990.

After the match, Kane acknowledged the achievement with a light-hearted remark: 'Sorry Gary, I'm one ahead of you now.' He then added seriously, 'I'm sure he'll send some congratulations and I've said before he's one of England's greatest strikers, especially in World Cups. To go ahead of him now is a proud moment for myself and I'm sure he'll be happy for me.'

The record was set during England's group stage match, with Kane continuing to lead the team's attack as they advance in the tournament.
