Visakhapatnam players clinch top honours at Andhra State carrom rankings

Visakhapatnam's CH. Janardhan Reddy and L. Haripriya emerged triumphant in the men's and women's singles categories, respectively, at the Andhra State 1st Ranking Carrom Tournament–2026. The three-day competition, organised by the SPSR Nellore District Carrom Association under the supervision of the Andhra State Carrom Association (ASCA), concluded on Sunday evening at the Nellore Club.

The tournament brought together some of the finest carrom talent from across the State. The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony witnessed the presence of players, sports personalities, officials, and carrom enthusiasts from various districts. Sarayu Hero managing director A. Raj Kumar handed over cash prizes, trophies, and certificates to the winners.

Addressing the gathering, tournament co-chairman and former Ranji cricketer Malireddy Kotareddy stressed that discipline, dedication, and consistent practice are the cornerstones of sporting excellence. He urged young players to aim for success at national and international levels, bringing glory to the State.

Shaik Abdul Jaleel, General Secretary of the ASCA, said that the winners received cash awards, trophies, and certificates. He noted that the tournament served as an excellent platform to identify talented players from across the State. "Based on their performances in this championship, a team has been selected to represent the State in forthcoming national-level competitions," he added.

The Andhra State 1st Ranking Carrom Tournament is a key event in the State's carrom calendar, providing competitive exposure to emerging and established players alike. With the selection of a State team for national events, the tournament fulfils its dual purpose of rewarding current performers and building a pipeline for future champions.
