FBI Arrests Indian National in Canada-Based Drug Trafficking Ring

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested Harmanveer Singh, an Indian national, for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy linked to the Ravinder Dhanda organised crime group operating from Canada.

Singh was taken into custody in Stockton, California, on Tuesday by officers of the California Highway Patrol, the FBI confirmed on Wednesday.

The arrest is part of 'Operation Hard Ball', a coordinated international law enforcement effort targeting three India-based transnational organised crime groups led by Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, and Ravinder Dhanda.

According to the FBI, Singh is wanted for his alleged participation in a conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances with intent to distribute, and conspiracy to export controlled substances. The Ravinder Dhanda Organised Crime Group, based in Vancouver, Canada, is accused of smuggling bulk quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine for drug trafficking organisations across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Singh on June 23, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Los Angeles. He faces charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute, conspiracy to export, and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.

Earlier this month, in a joint operation involving law enforcement agencies from the United States, Canada, and Europe, 24 individuals were arrested—11 of them in California—in connection with the three India-based criminal networks. The US Department of Justice has charged a total of 37 people in the indictment relating to 'Operation Hard Ball'.

The case highlights ongoing international efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks with ties to India and Canada.
