Delhi Police files chargesheet in IRS officer daughter's murder case; witnesses detail accused's movements
The Delhi Police has filed a 973-page chargesheet in a city court concerning the rape and murder of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer's daughter in Southeast Delhi. The document, submitted on Friday, includes statements from over 80 witnesses and forensic evidence such as DNA analysis.
According to the chargesheet, a security guard, a driver, and two residents were among the first individuals to observe the 23-year-old accused, a former domestic help of the IRS officer, entering and leaving the victim's home on the day of the incident. The accused has been charged with rape, murder, and robbery.
The incident came to light on the morning of April 22, when the victim—described by investigators as a student preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations—was found dead inside her home. The accused is alleged to have raped and killed her before stealing valuables from the house.
The case is now before the court, which will examine the evidence presented. The accused remains in custody as the legal process proceeds.
