Delhi Hit-and-Run: Woman Killed by Dumper Truck, Driver Flees

New Delhi: A woman was killed after being run over by a speeding dumper truck on the Budh Vihar-Kanjhawala Road in outer Delhi, police said on Thursday. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Police personnel from the Aman Vihar Police Station, along with the Station House Officer (SHO), reached the spot and recovered the body after considerable effort. The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

According to the police, the impact of the accident was severe, leaving the victim's body badly crushed and initially difficult to identify. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka, a resident of the Rohini area of the capital.

After the body was removed, traffic flow was restored on the road. The Aman Vihar police have seized the dumper truck involved in the accident and have launched a detailed investigation. Further legal proceedings are underway.

The incident comes a day after a Delhi Traffic Police head constable was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle while regulating traffic near the Singhu border. Last week, Delhi Police arrested the driver of a Mercedes car in a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a 29-year-old scooty rider near the Jahangirpuri Bus Stand on the Outer Ring Road in northwest Delhi.

In that incident, which occurred on July 5, the scooty rider, identified as Deepak, a resident of Mangolpuri, was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Investigation revealed that a Mercedes car bearing registration number HR-51BT-6304 had hit the scooty and fled. The driver, Ansh Pratap Singh, was later arrested.
