Delhi e-Office Marks One Year: User Base Triples, 1.44 Lakh Files Processed
The Delhi government's e-Office system will complete one year of operation on July 1, with officials reporting a significant increase in adoption across departments. According to government data released on Sunday, the number of users on the digital platform has tripled to 15,748, spanning 235 government departments, boards, and educational institutions. This marks a sharp rise from March 2025, when only 5,005 users across 198 departments were registered.
Since its introduction, the system has processed over 1.44 lakh electronic files and 9.22 lakh e-receipts. The e-Office platform was made mandatory for all Delhi government departments starting July 1, 2025, replacing physical file movement with an online workflow for file processing, correspondence, and approvals. The government stated that the shift has reduced reliance on paper files, improved tracking of official work, and accelerated decision-making.
The system aims to bring transparency and efficiency to governance by digitizing administrative processes. Officials noted that the increase in user adoption reflects growing comfort with digital tools among government staff. The platform is part of a broader push toward e-governance in Delhi, with plans to integrate additional functions in the future.
While the government has highlighted the benefits, some employees initially faced challenges adapting to the new system. Training sessions and technical support were provided to ease the transition. The e-Office system is seen as a step toward reducing bureaucratic delays and ensuring accountability in file movements.
As the one-year milestone approaches, the Delhi government plans to review the system's performance and address any remaining issues. The data indicates a steady increase in usage, suggesting that the digital transition is gaining momentum across departments.
