Delhi Cabinet Approves ₹10 Lakh Cashless Health Cover for Construction Workers

The Delhi Cabinet has approved the Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme, providing registered construction workers and their families with free annual health check-ups and cashless medical services worth up to ₹10 lakh per year, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Approximately 2.7 lakh workers are registered with the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board. Under the scheme, eligible family members, including spouses, children, and parents, will receive free healthcare through empanelled hospitals and mobile health units.

Each registered worker is entitled to treatment of up to ₹2 lakh at empanelled hospitals, while the family limit is ₹10 lakh annually. The entire process will be cashless, eliminating financial burden. Beneficiaries will have access to outpatient and inpatient services, diagnostic and laboratory facilities, emergency medical assistance, and referral services.

The board already administers 17 welfare schemes, including those for education, marriage, disability pensions, and death compensation for workers. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that a comprehensive health protection scheme for this sector had been lacking, and this initiative addresses that gap.
