Congress MP Randhawa Meets Amit Shah, Denies Political Motive Amid Party Rift Rumours

Congress Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the residence of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, sparking speculation about internal party differences. Randhawa, however, maintained that the meeting was strictly about Punjab's security and law-and-order challenges, and carried no political undertone.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Randhawa dismissed rumours of a rift within the Congress party. He said, "It is worth reflecting on the fact that things should not have reached this stage. After holding so many meetings and still not getting satisfied is very unfortunate." The remarks came amid ongoing tensions in the Punjab Congress unit, with some leaders expressing dissatisfaction over party affairs.

During his discussion with Shah, Randhawa raised concerns about what he described as the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the border state of Punjab. The meeting was part of a series of engagements by central leaders with regional politicians to address security issues, especially in light of recent cross-border threats.

The meeting at Channi's residence, where the former chief minister was also present, added to the curiosity. However, Randhawa's denial of any political agenda has not fully quelled speculation. Political analysts note that such interactions often invite scrutiny, especially when they involve opposition MPs and ruling party leaders.

The Congress party has not issued an official statement on the meeting. Randhawa's clarification seeks to assure both party colleagues and the public that his actions are focused on Punjab's welfare rather than internal politics. The matter underscores the delicate balance of state-centre relations and intra-party dynamics.
