Chennai Art Exhibition 'Landscape of Belonging' Opens June 27, Features Over 100 Artists
An upcoming art exhibition in Chennai, titled 'Landscape of Belonging', will showcase the work of over 100 artists, reflecting the city's cultural heritage and diverse community. Presented by Madras Art Weekend in collaboration with The Hindu's 'Made of Chennai' initiative, the exhibition will be held at Lalit Kala Akademi from June 27 to June 30, with a preview on June 26.
The exhibition serves as a prelude to the annual Madras Day and Madras Month celebrations. It brings together a mix of emerging and established contemporary artists, exploring themes of identity, heritage, and belonging through the lens of Chennai's cultural landscape.
Notable participants include actor and filmmaker Suhasini Maniratnam, who will debut as a digital artist, and veteran actor and artist Sivakumar. Filmmaker Pankaj Parashar will exhibit his digital creations, alongside works by senior artist G Raman. The exhibition will also feature artworks by the late senior artist T Athiveerapandian, offering visitors a chance to engage with his legacy.
Madras Art Weekend founder Upasana Asrani said, 'We received more than 500 submissions and had to narrow them down to just over 100 artists. We’re thrilled that the exhibition brings together both emerging and established voices, offering visitors an opportunity to experience a diverse range of mediums, from painting, photography and mixed media to ceramics, sculpture and digital art.'
'Landscape of Belonging' will be open from June 27 to 30 at Lalit Kala Akademi. Entry is free.
