Ayodhya temple donation theft: Police recover cash, jewellery from accused
The Ayodhya police have reportedly recovered cash, jewellery, and investment-related documents from hideouts linked to three individuals arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations meant for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The recovery was made during a two-day custody remand, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
The three accused—Luvkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey—were taken into police custody from Ayodhya jail on Wednesday morning after a local court granted a 40-hour remand. They were returned to the jail authorities on Thursday at 11 pm.
Sources indicate that among the accused, Avinash Shukla and Ramshankar Yadav (also known as Tinnu) were the primary beneficiaries of the alleged embezzlement, followed by Anukalp Mishra. Police recovered the largest portion of cash, jewellery, and investment documents from Shukla. Additionally, a car believed to have been purchased with the stolen funds was seized from him.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed the total value of the recovered items. The case has drawn attention due to the donations being collected for the construction of the Ram temple, a project of significant cultural and religious importance in India.
