Kirari MLA Anil Jha, Karnataka MLA Abhay Patil Suffer Minor Injuries in Delhi Car Crash
Two MLAs, including Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari, and Abhay Patil, an MLA from Karnataka, were among six people who sustained minor injuries after two cars collided near the PWD office in central Delhi on Sunday night, the police said.
The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when a car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO hit a divider, crossed the roadside railing, and collided with a Toyota Innova coming from the opposite direction, according to the police.
The first car was driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children. The Innova was occupied by Mr. Jha and Mr. Patil. All six occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for treatment, where they were declared stable.
A PCR call about the road accident was received at the I.P. Estate police station around 9:30 p.m. A police team arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles. A preliminary local inquiry suggested that the car first hit the divider before crossing the railing and crashing into the Innova, which was travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.
Police said further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances leading to the accident. No arrests have been made, and no case has been registered yet, the police added.
The incident highlights the risks of road travel in the national capital, even as authorities continue to emphasize road safety measures. Both MLAs are expected to resume their duties after receiving medical attention.
