Zerodha Co-Founder Apologises After Woman Questions Ignored Email at Live Event
During a live event in Bengaluru, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath apologised to a woman after she publicly questioned why he had not responded to an email she sent months earlier. The incident occurred during a session featuring Kamath and comedian Tanmay Bhatt, where audience members were invited to ask questions.
Nandini, an attendee, told Kamath that she had followed common advice to reach out to influential people with a clear value proposition. On December 9 last year, she sent an email with the subject line “WTF can be improved with WTF,” referring to Kamath’s podcast. She said she never received a reply. Holding up her phone to show the email, she asked Kamath directly: “What else could I have done?”
Kamath responded by apologising, explaining that the volume of emails he receives makes it difficult to read every message. He acknowledged her effort and promised to read her email after the event. Later, in an Instagram post shared by Nandini, Kamath followed up on his promise, confirming he had read the email and would consider her suggestions.
The exchange drew attention on social media, with many praising Nandini’s persistence and Kamath’s accountability. Kamath’s apology and subsequent action highlight the challenges of communication in the digital age, even for public figures, and the importance of following up on commitments.
