WB police charge Jahangir Khan's wife under Arms Act; 15 arrests in Falta attack

The West Bengal Police have filed fresh charges against Rejina Bibi, also known as Sarina, the wife of arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan, under the Arms and Explosives Acts. The action marks an intensification of the police crackdown following the attack on the Falta police station.

With the arrest of seven more individuals, the total number of arrests in connection with the incident has reached 15. The police have described the attempt to storm the police station as a premeditated conspiracy.

According to senior police officials, a meeting was held by Jahangir Khan's wife a day before the attack. The plan, they allege, involved mobilising hundreds of supporters at a location three kilometres from the Falta police station and then launching an organised assault to forcibly secure Khan's release.

Jahangir Khan, a TMC leader, was arrested earlier in a separate case. The police investigation into the Falta attack continues, with further detentions not ruled out.
