Wayanad Landslide: Amit Shah Offers Centre's Full Support to Kerala

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Wednesday, a day after a debris slip near a tunnel project site at Kalladi in Wayanad claimed three lives. Shah assured the state government of complete support from the Centre for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's office, Shah telephonically took stock of the situation and promised all necessary assistance. He also appreciated the measures taken by the state government so far.

During the conversation, Shah urged Chief Minister Satheesan to order a high-level probe into the incident. The Chief Minister informed him that the state cabinet, which met earlier on Wednesday, had already approved such an inquiry.

The debris slip occurred on Tuesday near the tunnel project, killing three workers. Rescue operations have been ongoing, and the state government has been coordinating with local authorities to provide relief to the affected families.

This incident highlights the risks associated with infrastructure projects in ecologically sensitive areas like Wayanad. The state government has promised a thorough investigation to prevent future tragedies.
