Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 2,954, Officials Report
The death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 2,954, according to the Venezuelan Information Ministry on Saturday (July 4, 2026). The number of injured has increased to 16,592, while 16,309 people are now homeless, as per new figures presented by Jorge Rodriguez, head of Venezuela’s National Assembly.
Mr. Rodriguez added that medical teams have treated 22,445 people so far. Nearly 30,000 officials have been deployed, along with 3,281 international rescue workers, to assist those affected by the earthquakes. Rescue operations to search for survivors are still underway, he stated.
The two quakes, which occurred earlier this week, have caused widespread devastation across parts of the country. The government has mobilised resources and sought international aid to manage the crisis. Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage as rescue efforts progress.
