VCK Leader Stresses Need for National Anti-BJP Front Amid Alliance Speculation

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan has faced social media criticism following his remarks on his party's alliance strategy. He stated that the VCK has not formally allied with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and will maintain a friendly relationship with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which some observers described as contradictory.

On Wednesday, Thirumavalavan clarified that his comments were made from the perspective of national politics and the need for a united opposition front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He emphasised the importance of building a national anti-BJP front that includes both the TVK and the DMK.

The VCK later issued a clarification on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, stating that Thirumavalavan was referring to past events and positions. The statement accused certain media outlets of deliberately twisting his remarks to suggest they represent his current stance.

Thirumavalavan said, "Just because DMK inducted an office-bearer of the VCK into their party, I didn’t oppose them. There is a necessity to build a national anti-BJP front — both the TVK and DMK should be a part of it. This is my point of view...but many would say that I am confusing everyone. We will see if DMK can be a part of the INDIA bloc."

In a related development, MDMK chief Vaiko mocked Thirumavalavan's remarks, suggesting he deserved a Nobel Prize. Thirumavalavan responded, "I thank him for his recommendation."

The episode highlights ongoing realignments among Tamil Nadu's political parties as they navigate alliances ahead of future elections.
