Uttar Pradesh CM Forms Two-Member SIT to Investigate Lucknow Fire Tragedy

Lucknow, India – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday ordered the formation of a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe a fire incident in the Aliganj area of Lucknow that resulted in casualties and property damage. The decision was announced following an inspection of the site by the Chief Minister.

The SIT comprises Amrit Abhijat, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs), and Praveen Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Lucknow Zone. The team has been directed to submit its findings within seven days.

According to officials, the SIT will investigate the cause of the fire and any negligence on the part of relevant government departments. The decision was taken after a high-level meeting attended by the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home Affairs), Director General of Police, and other senior officers.

The fire, which broke out on Sunday night, is reported to have destroyed several houses and shops. Emergency services responded promptly, and rescue operations were conducted. The exact number of casualties and the extent of damage are still being assessed.

The formation of the SIT is part of the state government's efforts to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future. The Chief Minister has assured the public that strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
