Uttar Pradesh CM announces proposal for Lucknow-Unnao-Kanpur rapid rail corridor
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that he will soon bring a proposal for a rapid rail corridor connecting Lucknow and Kanpur via Unnao. The proposed corridor would be similar to India's first rapid rail service currently operational between Delhi and Meerut.
Mr Adityanath laid the foundation stones for over 101 development projects worth more than Rs 577 crore in Unnao district. During the event, he stated that nearly 700 acres of land for the Defence Corridor and around 200 acres for industrial clusters are ready in the district.
In Kanpur, the Chief Minister issued instructions to officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) to coordinate with public representatives regarding development projects. He said that public representatives have a deep understanding of the geographical, social, and developmental needs of their constituencies. Therefore, their suggestions and proposals should be compiled on a priority basis, and an action plan should be promptly submitted to the government. This would enable necessary approvals and commencement of work within a stipulated timeframe, he added.
