Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath Inaugurates Projects, Criticises Opposition Over Heritage Spending

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a visit to Banda on July 9, 2026, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 229 development projects valued at over ₹710 crore. In his address, he criticised the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress for their alleged stance on Hindu traditions and Sanatan Dharma, stating that these parties have made it their mission to criticise Hindu heritage.

Mr. Adityanath claimed that the funds currently allocated by his government for temple development and beautification of religious sites were previously used by the Samajwadi Party government to build boundary walls around graveyards. He said, “They have a preference for graveyards, which explains their opposition to the development of the Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath, Maa Vindhyavasini Dham, Chitrakoot, and Naimisharanya Dham.”

The Chief Minister urged citizens to reject what he termed as “negative mindsets” that oppose progress. He also reflected on the challenges faced by the Bundelkhand region when he assumed office, including water scarcity, migration, and the influence of illegal mining and dacoits. He credited the double-engine government (BJP at state and centre) for transforming the region with improved connectivity, drinking water, irrigation, and job opportunities.

Mr. Adityanath reiterated that his government does not follow a policy of appeasement and warned those who compromise the safety of women and traders. He said, “Our Government does not tolerate disturbances, curfews, or hooliganism.”
