UGC NET June 2026 Exam Begins Tomorrow: Admit Card, Timings, Documents Required

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for the June 2026 session from June 22. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and will continue until June 30.

UGC NET determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes. Candidates who qualify are awarded a certificate by the UGC.

Candidates scheduled for the first day of the exam are advised to download and verify their admit cards. The admit card contains critical information such as exam date, shift timings, reporting time, and centre address. NTA has instructed candidates to read all instructions mentioned on the hall ticket before arriving at the centre.

The examination will be held in two shifts each day. The first shift typically begins in the morning, and the second shift in the afternoon. Candidates must report at least one hour before the scheduled start time to complete registration and security checks.

Along with the admit card, candidates must carry a valid original photo identification (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, or passport). No additional documents are allowed inside the exam hall. Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches, and calculators, are strictly prohibited.

Candidates are urged to plan their travel to the centre in advance, considering traffic and weather conditions. It is recommended to carry a water bottle (clear, transparent) and a pen, as stationery may not be provided. The NTA has made arrangements for candidates with disabilities as per government norms.

The UGC NET is a crucial exam for academic careers in India. Thousands of candidates appear each session. For the latest updates, candidates should regularly check the official NTA website.
