UBTech Unveils U1 Humanoid Series: Companion Robots for Homes and Elder Care

UBTech, a Shenzhen-based robotics company, has launched the U1 humanoid robot series, marking its expansion from industrial automation into consumer markets. The new lineup, unveiled on Tuesday, is designed for domestic companionship, elder-care settings, and premium service applications.

The U1 series comes in three variants: Lite, Pro, and Ultra. Prices range from 119,800 yuan (approximately $17,650) to 990,000 yuan (about $138,000). The robots are available in male and female versions, standing 183 cm and 168 cm tall, respectively.

This launch reflects a broader industry trend where robotics firms increasingly target consumer use cases alongside traditional factory deployments. UBTech aims to position the U1 as an accessible companion robot for households and care facilities, though the high-end models remain a luxury item.

While the company has not disclosed specific technical specifications or release dates for international markets, the U1 series represents a step toward making humanoid robots more common in everyday environments. Analysts note that the price points and features align with competitors in the growing consumer robotics sector.
