Two sisters attacked with cricket bat in Gujarat over alleged teasing dispute
In Gujarat's Bharuch district, two sisters aged 18 and 17 were allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat by a schoolmate and her family members on Friday, according to police. The incident occurred while the sisters were on their way to tuition classes.
Police officials stated that the sisters were riding a moped when they were intercepted by a car. The accused, a Class 9 student accompanied by her parents and grandmother, confronted the sisters accusing them of teasing the younger girl. The family members then allegedly beat the sisters with a cricket bat.
“We have obtained CCTV footage showing the family members beating up both the girls over a quarrel between the minors. The accused have left their home, and we are searching for them,” a police officer said.
The sisters, both students of Class 12, were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Further details are awaited.
