Two arrested in alleged petrol bomb attack on RSS office in Ranchi

Police in Jharkhand have arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged petrol bomb attack on the office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Ranchi. The arrests were made late on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from Lohardaga district, and a car used by the accused has been seized, officials said on Thursday.

The incident occurred early Wednesday at the RSS office in the Nivaranpur area. The RSS had alleged that petrol bombs were hurled at its premises, prompting the police to form a special investigation team. Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan confirmed the arrests and said the accused are being interrogated.

During the investigation, police recovered shards of glass bottles from the scene. A forensic team visited the spot to determine the contents of the bottles, which are suspected to be petrol. The bomb detection and disposal squad also inspected the premises, but no explosive devices such as IEDs or bombs were found, according to police sources.

The motive behind the attack is under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the accused at this stage, and further details are expected as the probe continues.
