Trump Aide Hints at Possible India Visit Next Year After PM Modi's Invitation

Sergio Gor, a close aide to former US President Donald Trump, has indicated that Trump may visit India next year following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking to reporters, Gor stated, 'We'd love to have him back,' referring to PM Modi's recent visit to the United States. The remarks come amid growing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Gor, who serves as a senior advisor to Trump, confirmed that the invitation was extended during bilateral discussions. However, he stopped short of confirming a specific date or itinerary, noting that any potential visit would depend on mutual scheduling and security considerations. 'President Trump has a great relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and he values the strong ties between our countries,' Gor added.

The speculation about Trump's return to India follows PM Modi's successful state visit to Washington in June 2023, where he addressed a joint session of the US Congress and met with President Joe Biden. During that visit, Modi extended a formal invitation to Trump, who is currently a leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Political analysts view a potential Trump visit as significant for US-India relations, given his previous administration's focus on strengthening bilateral ties, including joint military exercises and trade agreements. However, no official confirmation has been issued by either the Indian government or Trump's campaign team.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not commented on the speculation, with officials stating that they do not respond to hypothetical scenarios. Earlier this year, PM Modi also hosted President Joe Biden for the G20 summit in New Delhi, underscoring India's role as a key diplomatic partner.

Journalists present at Gor's briefing pressed for details, but he reiterated that any announcement would come from the Trump campaign in due course. 'We are focused on the upcoming election, but the Prime Minister's invitation has been warmly received,' Gor said.
