Telangana Minister Claims Growing Support for Congress Amid NEET Controversy

Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has stated that the Congress party is witnessing increasing support across the country, citing public response to the party's recent anti-government programmes. Speaking to reporters in Nalgonda on Friday, he pointed to the ongoing NEET controversy as evidence that the central government is prioritising politics over administration.

The Minister claimed that people are now recognising the need for a young leader like Rahul Gandhi. He urged the Centre to accept moral responsibility for the examination paper leak incidents, which he said have jeopardised the future of lakhs of students. The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) has been marred by allegations of paper leaks in multiple states, leading to widespread protests and demands for a re-examination.

Mr. Komatireddy also expressed concern over what he described as attempts to weaken welfare measures such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He stressed that such programmes provide crucial support to rural poor and landless labourers.

Earlier, the Minister reviewed ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) meetings with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and directed them to ensure complete transparency in the voter list revision process. He appreciated the efforts of Congress leaders, BLAs, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), reporting that 98.5% enumeration had been completed in Aleru Assembly Constituency, 93% in Bhongir, and 85% in Nalgonda.
