Karnataka SIR Picks Up Pace: 54.68 Lakh Enumeration Forms Distributed in Two Days
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Karnataka's electoral rolls gathered momentum on Wednesday, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributing over 54.68 lakh enumeration forms to electors across the State on the second day of the exercise.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the forms handed out so far account for 9.87% of the State's total electorate. Karnataka had 5,54,32,314 electors on the rolls as of June 16, 2026. The enumeration forms have been printed and supplied to all BLOs for door-to-door distribution.
By 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a total of 54,68,607 enumeration forms had been distributed. Digitisation of the collected forms has also commenced, with 2,38,453 forms (0.43%) uploaded to the system. In addition, 26,213 electors (0.05%) have submitted their forms online.
The SIR is a house-to-house verification exercise in which BLOs visit electors, confirm their details and collect enumeration forms. It is intended to remove errors from the rolls and to record changes such as deaths, permanent shifts and duplicate entries. Electors who have moved away or whose family members have died are expected to inform the BLO during the visit, while those eligible but not yet enrolled can seek inclusion.
During verification, officials identified 2,565 cases requiring further scrutiny under the Absentee, Shifted, Death, Duplicate and Others (ASDDO) category. This includes 1,383 electors who had died, 816 who had permanently shifted, 327 persons found to be already enrolled elsewhere, 21 who were untraceable or absent, and 18 cases classified under other heads.
Kalaburagi leads in distribution
Among districts, Kalaburagi reported the highest distribution of enumeration forms at 4.06 lakh, followed closely by Davangere (3.95 lakh), Koppal (3.63 lakh) and Hassan (3.42 lakh).
In digitisation, Raichur led the State with 33,612 forms uploaded, followed by Ballari (16,924), Chitradurga (14,809), Chickballapur (14,377) and Koppal (14,247).
The house-to-house verification and digitisation of enumeration forms will continue till July 29, the Commission said. Electors are advised to cooperate with BLOs during the visits and to check that the particulars recorded against their names are accurate.
