Telangana Health Minister directs swift action to address MCR TIMS trial-run gaps, expedite full services
Hyderabad, August 6, 2026 — Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has directed officials to expedite preparations for the full-scale launch of medical services at the Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS), Sanathnagar, with a focus on resolving shortcomings observed during the ongoing trial run that began on May 1.
The Minister reviewed the hospital's preparedness at a meeting in Hyderabad on Thursday. The assessment covered trial-run services, infrastructure, medical equipment, recruitment of doctors and other personnel, and the readiness of individual departments.
Emphasising that the government is developing MCR TIMS as a super-specialty healthcare institution, the Minister directed officials to ensure all departments are fully equipped to provide patient care without inconvenience once the hospital becomes fully operational.
Officials were instructed to identify and rectify deficiencies noticed during the trial run and to prepare a special action plan for coordination among various departments and services. These include outpatient and inpatient services, emergency care, intensive care units, operation theatres, diagnostics, laboratories, pharmacy, central sterile services, patient registration, and IT systems.
The Minister also reviewed the readiness of essential utilities such as electricity and water supply, medical oxygen lines, biomedical waste management, sanitation, and security. He directed officials to ensure these systems are fully functional to prevent any disruption to patient care.
Human resources were another priority. The Minister examined the availability of doctors, nurses, paramedical personnel, technicians, and administrative staff. He sought details of the recruitment process and directed officials to complete hiring at the earliest in a transparent manner. Adequate personnel must be available across all departments from the day the hospital begins full-scale operations, he said.
