Telangana CM Seeks Cabinet Nod for RRR Northern Section Work

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the Union Cabinet to approve the start of construction on the northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

During a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), Reddy stated that 95% of land acquisition for the northern section has been completed, and urged the Centre to grant necessary clearances expeditiously. He argued that beginning work on both the northern and southern sections simultaneously would ensure faster completion and reduce government expenditure.

Reddy also referred to the assurance in the Reorganisation Act for a greenfield highway between Hyderabad and Amaravati, and requested permission for that project at the earliest. Additionally, he sought early sanction for a proposed 12-lane expressway between Bharat Future City and Machilipatnam Port via Amaravati, which he said would reduce the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 100 kilometres and facilitate faster goods transport.

The Chief Minister asked Gadkari to help secure forest clearances for the proposed Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor, which would pass through the Nallamala reserve forest, near the Srisailam temple and waterfalls. He also requested approval for a new six-lane highway between Hyderabad and Mancherial, proposed as an alternative to the Rajiv Rahadari, stating it would open up new opportunities in agriculture, business, and other sectors.
