Telangana CM orders stringent security for police recruitment exams

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed senior officials to ensure foolproof security and complete transparency in the upcoming police recruitment examinations for 7,437 vacancies. The directive follows intelligence inputs suggesting that certain political parties and vested interests could attempt to disrupt the recruitment process.

Mr. Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, convened an emergency review meeting with Director General of Police C.V. Anand and other senior police officials. The State Intelligence wing had alerted the government to the alleged plans to interfere with the recruitment process.

Reviewing the arrangements, the Chief Minister instructed officials to strictly adhere to all rules and procedures and ensure the examinations are conducted without any lapses. He stressed that every stage of the recruitment process should be closely monitored to eliminate the possibility of errors or irregularities.

Emphasising the need for heightened vigilance, Mr. Reddy directed officials to maintain strict security during the preparation, printing and transportation of question papers. He also ordered strengthening security at examination centres and placing coaching centres under special surveillance to prevent any attempts to influence or mislead candidates.

In a move to counter misinformation, the Chief Minister asked officials to curb the circulation of false information about the recruitment exams on social media and other digital platforms. He further instructed the Cyber Security and Intelligence wings to remain on high alert until the completion of the recruitment process.

The Cyber Crime wing has been tasked with closely monitoring online activity and initiating action against touts, fake websites and social media accounts that lure candidates with fraudulent promises of securing government jobs.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister V. Seshadri, Home Department Principal Secretary Shikha Goel, Police Recruitment Board Chairman V.V. Srinivasa Rao, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and other senior police officials attended the meeting.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 7,437 vacancies in the state police force, a significant exercise that requires meticulous planning and execution. The government's emphasis on transparency and security is intended to ensure a fair process for all candidates and to maintain public trust in the recruitment system.

Authorities have been instructed to maintain coordination across departments and to promptly address any grievances related to the examination process. The Chief Minister reiterated that no compromise would be made on the integrity of the recruitment exercise.
