Teen Girl Killed as Bus Hits Motorcycle in Tamil Nadu; Driver Arrested After Protest

A 15-year-old girl was killed and two others injured when a government bus struck a motorcycle in Panangulam, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. The deceased was identified as R. Thanuskadevi, a resident of Panangulam east village. Her father Ravi and 17-year-old sister Tharanikadevi were injured in the crash.

According to police, Ravi was riding the motorcycle with his two daughters on the pillion along the Pattukottai-Aranthangi road. The bus, travelling from Pattukottai to Paramakudi, collided with the two-wheeler, killing Thanuskadevi on the spot. The injured were taken to Aranthangi Government Hospital for treatment.

The bus driver and conductor fled the scene immediately after the accident. A section of local residents staged a protest demanding the driver's arrest, leading to tense moments. Police and revenue officials intervened and held talks with the protesters, who later dispersed. The bus driver and conductor were subsequently apprehended.

The Keeramangalam police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
