Tamil Nadu CCB Urges Private Schools to File Complaints in ₹100 Crore Fraud Case

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Greater Chennai Police has called upon school managements to submit complaints against P.T. Arasakumar, a 59-year-old man arrested on Saturday for allegedly defrauding private schools across Tamil Nadu of approximately ₹100 crore.

According to police, Arasakumar promised to secure government approvals, including permanent recognition, school upgradation, and other permissions, in exchange for large sums of money. He is accused of collecting funds from private school managements across multiple districts under the guise of being the president of an unregistered body called the ‘Tamil Nadu Private Schools Association’.

The case was registered based on a complaint from Elangovan, Secretary of the Federation of Associations of Private Schools in Tamil Nadu. The CCB investigation involves examining documents, bank transaction records, and statements from school managements.

Police suspect that nearly ₹100 crore may have been collected from schools across the state. The prime accused, also known as Pudukottai Thiagarajan Arasakumar, was arrested at his residence in Chennai. Authorities are continuing to identify other individuals involved and are gathering additional evidence.

The CCB has appealed to any private school management that believes it was similarly cheated to approach the CCB and file a complaint.
