Surat Bank Heist: Two More Suspects Arrested Near Karnataka-Tamil Nadu Border

The Surat Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with the armed robbery of Rs 50 lakh from the State Bank of India's (SBI) Varachha branch in Surat, which took place in April this year. The arrests were made from a hideout located on the border of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, according to officials.

The accused have been identified as Vikaskumar alias Chandan Kushwaha (27), a resident of Surat who originally hails from Bihar, and Sanjit Rajbhar (25), a native of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh. They were taken into custody on Friday after a period of surveillance.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Alok Kumar stated that following the arrest of the gang leader Kundan Bhagat, the police team used technical and human intelligence to track down the two suspects. 'Our teams reached the location after a couple of days of surveillance and apprehended them. We also recovered Rs. 2.70 lakh in cash from their possession,' he said.

The robbery had occurred on April 21, when a group of armed men entered the bank and fled with cash worth Rs 50 lakh. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
