Shamshabad Jungle Camp to Get ₹5 Crore Upgrade, Private Operator Takes Over

The jungle camp at Masjid Gadda urban forest park in Shamshabad, located near the Pedda Golconda exit of the Outer Ring Road, is being handed over to a private operator six and a half years after its launch.

The camp was relaunched on Monday, June 29, 2026, after renovation, by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force C. Suvarna. She stated that the camp will be fully operational with modern facilities by July 20, 2026.

As part of the expansion, 10 new camping tents will be added to the existing eight cottages. The camp will also feature a canteen, yoga centre, wellness centre, a five-kilometre walking and cycling track, a watch tower, an eco-tourism zone, and adventure programmes.

A new programme called 'Junior Rangers' has been launched to increase awareness about nature, forests, and biodiversity among students, Ms. Suvarna informed.

The adventure sports organisation Freakouts Adventures has secured the bid through a tender process to manage the jungle camp under the 'License to Operate' mode.

Works including additional tents, a multi-purpose hall, lake development, and beautification are being undertaken at an expenditure of ₹5 crore.

Masjid Gadda was part of the 94 urban forest parks planned for development across the state between 2015 and 2020. It was developed on 180 hectares of forest block at a cost of ₹4.34 crore. The park originally had two areas designated as Adventure Zone and Jungle Camp, with tracks for walking, running, and cycling, camping facilities, adventure sports, children's play areas, gazebos, multi-purpose sheds, and other visitor amenities.
