RJD and CPI-ML Reject Congress Allegations of Cross-Voting by MLAs

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) have strongly refuted allegations made by the Congress party that their MLAs engaged in cross-voting during recent elections. The Congress had claimed that some MLAs from these parties voted against their own candidates, a charge that both parties have dismissed as baseless.

In a joint press conference, leaders of the RJD and CPI-ML accused the Congress of attempting to deflect attention from its own internal issues. They argued that the Congress was making unsubstantiated claims to cover up its own failures in securing the support of its legislators. The RJD spokesperson stated, 'Our MLAs are disciplined and loyal. The Congress is spreading falsehoods to create confusion.'

The controversy erupted after the Congress released a list of MLAs it alleged had cross-voted in the recently concluded elections. The list included names of legislators from the RJD and CPI-ML, prompting a strong denial from both parties. The CPI-ML leader said, 'This is a deliberate attempt to malign our party. We demand proof from the Congress for its accusations.'

Political analysts suggest that such allegations are common in the heat of electoral battles, often used to undermine rival parties. However, the credibility of the Congress's claims remains unverified as no concrete evidence has been presented so far. Both parties have called on the Election Commission to investigate the matter and clarify the situation.

The incident highlights the fragile nature of political alliances in the region. The RJD and CPI-ML, while part of a broader opposition coalition, have often found themselves at odds with the Congress over seat-sharing and policy issues. This latest spat could further strain relations among the allies ahead of future elections.

As of now, the Congress has not responded to the denials from the RJD and CPI-ML. The Election Commission has yet to comment on the allegations. The situation remains fluid, with both sides holding their ground.
