Ramayan Film to Debut First Look at San Diego Comic-Con in July
The upcoming mythological epic film Ramayan, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is scheduled to present its first look at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on July 23, 2026. The film’s producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash will attend the event. This marks a major promotional step for the film, which aims to reach a global audience.
According to the official SDCC schedule, the Ramayan panel will be held on July 23, 2026, at 3:15 pm PDT (3:15 am IST) in Ballroom 20, one of the convention’s largest venues, with a capacity of around 4,800 attendees. The panel description highlights the film as one of the biggest cinematic undertakings in Indian film history and promises an exclusive first look.
The film joins a growing trend of Indian productions showcasing at SDCC, traditionally dominated by Hollywood franchises. Previously, the film Kalki 2898 AD was the first Indian film to have a prominent showcase at the convention.
Before the Comic-Con appearance, the film’s promotional campaign is expected to begin in India with a trailer launch event in New Delhi on July 18, 2026, as reported by Variety India. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, giving Indian audiences an extensive preview before the team travels to the United States.
The makers are also reportedly considering promotional appearances at international festivals and events, including live performances by composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, who are collaborating on the film’s soundtrack. However, these plans have not been officially confirmed.
Ramayan is produced with a budget of Rs 4,000 crore and features a large ensemble cast. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, and Yash portrays Ravana. Other cast members include Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, along with Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha, and Adinath Kothare.
The film is planned as a two-part saga. Ramayan Part 1 is scheduled for release during Diwali 2026, with the second part following in Diwali 2027.
