Rahul Gandhi: Future of India Is Students, Not Modi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that students are the future of India while Prime Minister Narendra Modi represents the past, adding that "the past can never fight the future."
Speaking to the media after meeting a group of protesting students at his residence, including a young girl with a leg injury, Gandhi reiterated their demand for the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He described the demand as non-negotiable, dismissing any suggestion that Pradhan might be transferred to another ministry as insufficient.
"The demand of the students is to sack Dharmendra Pradhan, and that is non-negotiable," Gandhi stated. He listed three non-negotiable demands, including Pradhan's removal, and accused the minister of being corrupt and incompetent.
Gandhi also told the students that no amount of government pressure could force them to leave their protest site at Jantar Mantar. "I told the students not to worry. No amount of strength can move them from there. They can shut down the internet and intimidate, but the students will not go away," he said.
His remarks come amid ongoing protests in the capital led by a student group demanding reforms in the examination system and calling for Pradhan's resignation over the NEET paper leak, among other issues. The Congress leader's comments have drawn attention to the continuing student agitation, which has been a focal point of political debate.
