RAF Personnel Fired Pellet Gun on Protesters on Senior Delhi Cop's Orders: Records

Official records reveal that a Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel fired an Anti-Riot Gun (ARG), a type of pellet gun, twice during the 'Sansad Chalo' march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party on July 20. The firing was carried out on the orders of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-rank officer, according to the documents.

At least three people sustained pellet injuries in the incident: Irshad Sheikh, 25, a Gurgaon-based worker; Sahil Lochab, 19, a Delhi University student; and a 28-year-old journalist working with Outlook magazine. One of the injured individuals risks losing eyesight.

The Delhi Police has not yet commented on the records, though it had previously denied using pellet guns during the protest. The RAF has stated it will conduct an inquiry into the use of pellets by its personnel. Further details are awaited.
