Punjab Sarpanch Killed in Parking Brawl: Accused Run Over Victim Twice

A sarpanch from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was killed in a violent altercation outside his home in Anandgarh village, Hoshiarpur district, late Tuesday night. The victim, identified as Satpal Singh, 55, was allegedly run over by a car and then attacked with sharp-edged weapons.

According to family members and eyewitnesses, the incident began when around 15 to 20 men parked two cars and several motorcycles outside Satpal's house. An argument broke out, escalating when Satpal came outside to intervene. The men allegedly attacked him with swords and other weapons.

Satpal's son, Rahul, told reporters: 'When my father caught hold of a weapon to defend himself, the accused drove the car into him. They reversed the vehicle and ran over him again. Seeing that he was still breathing, they got out and attacked him again with khandas (sharp-edged weapons).' The accused fled when other family members emerged from the house.

Police have registered a case and detained several suspects for questioning. Senior officers have reached the spot to investigate. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though local sources suggest it may be linked to a prior dispute.

AAP leaders have condemned the killing and demanded swift justice. The sarpanch's body has been sent for post-mortem. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
