Pune Police Probe Bishnoi Gang Link After Firing at Businessman's Office
Pune city police are investigating the possible involvement of a crime syndicate led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi after unidentified suspects fired four rounds outside a steel businessman's office late on Monday night. The incident occurred hours after the businessman received an extortion call from individuals claiming to be members of the Bishnoi gang.
According to officials, the complainant operates an office and storage facility in the Fursungi area on Hadapsar Saswad Road. On Monday afternoon, he received a phone call from a man demanding a ransom and threatening harm if the payment was not made. Later that night, gunshots were fired outside his office. No injuries have been reported.
Police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage from the vicinity. They are also probing the authenticity of the callers' claims of being associated with the Bishnoi gang, which has been linked to several high-profile extortion and shooting incidents across Maharashtra. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet made any arrests.
