Police Register Case After 'I Love Pakistan' Graffiti Found on Ship at Cochin Shipyard

Ernakulam Town South police on Saturday (June 20, 2026) registered a case after a message reading 'I Love Pakistan' was found engraved inside a vessel under construction at Cochin Shipyard. The case was initiated based on a complaint lodged by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials at the shipyard.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which penalises acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. According to the FIR, the message was discovered on the wall of a service operation ship being built for a UK-based shipping company. It is believed to have been etched between February 25, 2026, and June 10, 2026.

Police recorded statements from over 150 employees of the shipyard during a preliminary inquiry, an officer said. “The employees who may have had access to the ship have been questioned, and we are collecting all possible scientific evidence,” the officer added.

The shipyard has not yet issued a comment regarding the incident.
